Absorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000074
The process by which one substance takes up another substance, either physically or chemically, into its bulk. This differs from adsorption, where molecules adhere to a surface. In analytical chemistry, absorption of electromagnetic radiation is used in techniques like UV-Vis spectroscopy to quantify concentrations of substances.
