Absorption
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-000161
1. The penetration of atoms, ions, or molecules into the bulk mass of a substance.
2. Absorption is the passage of one substance into or through another.
3. Absorption is the assimilation or incorporation of a gas, liquid, or dissolved substance into another substance.
4. The uptake of water or dissolved chemicals by a cell or an organism (as tree roots absorb dissolved nutrients in the soil).
5. The uptake of water , other fluids, or dissolved chemicals by a cell or an organism (as tree roots absorb dissolved nutrients in soil).
6. The process of one substance entering into the inner structure of another.
7. The process in which incident radiant energy is retained by a substance by conversion to some other form of energy.
8. The transfer of molecules from the bulk of the gas to a liquid surface, followed by diffusion of these molecules to the bulk of the liquid,
