Noise
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007987
Random fluctuations in a measured signal that do not originate from the analyte or the phenomenon being observed. These fluctuations obscure the true signal and limit the precision and detection limits of an analytical method. Noise can arise from electronic components, environmental factors, or the fundamental physical processes of detection.
