Developmental stability
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003104
The ability of an organism to produce a consistent phenotype despite genetic and environmental perturbations during development. It reflects the precision and robustness of developmental processes in buffering against random noise. Fluctuating asymmetry, which is random deviations from perfect bilateral symmetry, is a common measure of developmental stability.
