Signal-to-noise ratio
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010856
The ratio of the amplitude of a desired analytical signal to the amplitude of the background noise in a measurement. A higher ratio indicates a clearer signal and better measurement precision, allowing for the detection of lower analyte concentrations. This ratio is a fundamental metric for evaluating the performance of analytical instruments and methods.
