Signal

A measurable physical quantity, such as an electrical current, voltage, or light intensity, that carries information about the analyte in an analytical measurement. This response is generated by the interaction of the analyte with the analytical system. The magnitude of the signal is typically proportional to the concentration or amount of the analyte.
