Signal

A function that conveys information about a physical phenomenon, represented as a variation in a quantity over time or space. In electrical engineering, this is an electrical quantity, such as voltage or current, that is modulated to carry data. Signals are classified as either analog, having a continuous range of values, or digital, having a discrete set of values, typically represented by binary 0s and 1s.
