An objective indication of a disease or health condition that can be observed or measured by a healthcare professional. Unlike a symptom, which is subjective and reported by the patient, a sign is verifiable through physical examination, laboratory tests, or medical imaging. Examples include fever, elevated blood pressure, or a visible rash.
