Iatrogenic

Describing an adverse condition, illness, or injury in a patient that results from medical treatment, diagnostic procedures, or other actions by a healthcare professional. These effects are not a natural consequence of the patient's underlying disease but are inadvertently caused by the intervention itself. Iatrogenic conditions can range from minor side effects of a medication to severe complications arising from surgery or hospital-acquired infections, distinguishing them from the intended therapeutic outcomes.
