Residual spectrum/background spectrum
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010227
A spectrum obtained from a sample or environment that contains signals from components other than the analyte of interest. It represents the background interference or noise that must be subtracted from the total spectrum to isolate the analyte's signal. This is often encountered in spectroscopic techniques like infrared or mass spectrometry.
