Spectral subtraction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011153

A computational technique used to remove the contribution of an interfering component from a measured spectrum, revealing the spectrum of the analyte of interest. This involves subtracting a scaled reference spectrum of the interfering component from the mixed spectrum. The method is commonly applied in infrared and Raman spectroscopy to isolate the signals of specific compounds.
