Spectrum analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011166
The reading of an energy spectrum to extract the energies and intensities of the radiation present. Peak positions identify the components and peak intensities or areas give their amounts, after corrections such as background subtraction and peak fitting. In gamma-ray spectrometry, for example, peak energies identify the nuclides and net peak areas give their activities.
