Photoelectric peak

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008851

The peak in a gamma-ray spectrum that corresponds to the full energy deposition of a gamma-ray photon in the detector material. This occurs when the gamma-ray interacts via the photoelectric effect, transferring all its energy to an electron. The energy of this peak directly indicates the energy of the incident gamma ray.
