Full energy peak

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004697

The peak in a gamma-ray or X-ray spectrum that corresponds to the total absorption of the incident photon's energy by the detector. This peak is the most prominent feature in such spectra and is used for quantitative analysis of radionuclides. Its position indicates the energy of the gamma ray, and its area is proportional to the number of detected photons.
