Fullerenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004698
A class of carbon allotropes consisting of molecules composed entirely of carbon, forming a hollow sphere, ellipsoid, or tube. The most well-known fullerene is buckminsterfullerene (C60), which has a truncated icosahedral structure resembling a soccer ball. These cage-like molecules exhibit unique electronic and physical properties.
