Carbaboranes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001618
Polyhedral clusters composed of carbon and boron atoms, along with hydrogen atoms, forming a cage-like structure. These compounds are derivatives of boranes where one or more boron atoms are replaced by carbon atoms. Carbaboranes exhibit unique electronic properties and are classified by their skeletal electron count, such as closo-, nido-, and arachno-structures.
