Dipyrrins
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003244
Compounds built from a pair of pyrrole rings bridged by one methine carbon, the dipyrromethene skeleton. As ligands they lose a proton to give monoanionic bidentate chelates that bind metal and boron ions, forming brightly colored complexes. The boron difluoride complexes are the BODIPY dyes, widely used as fluorescent labels.
