Organometallic compounds

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013705

Molecules that possess one or more bonds between a carbon atom and a metal atom. The metal can be an alkali, alkaline earth, transition, or post-transition metal, as well as metalloids like silicon, tin, or boron. This structural feature distinguishes them from coordination compounds where the metal is bonded to organic ligands through atoms other than carbon, such as in metal acetylacetonates.
