Metallocenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007255
Organometallic compounds characterized by a transition metal atom sandwiched between two parallel cyclopentadienyl ligands. The ligands are bound to the metal through pi-bonds involving all five carbon atoms of each ring. Ferrocene, with the formula Fe(C5H5)2, is the archetypal metallocene and exhibits an 18-electron configuration, contributing to its high stability.
