Class (a) metal ion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002098
A metal ion characterized by its preference for ligands containing oxygen or fluorine as donor atoms, indicating a hard acid character. These ions are typically small, highly charged, and not easily polarized. Examples include alkali metal ions, alkaline earth metal ions, and early transition metal ions in high oxidation states.
