Molecular metal
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007506
A class of materials composed of discrete molecular units that exhibit metallic conductivity, rather than being formed from an extended lattice of metal atoms. These materials often involve organic molecules or coordination complexes that can form charge-transfer salts or polymeric structures with delocalized electrons. They represent a bridge between traditional metals and organic semiconductors.
