Oxidative addition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008393
A reaction in which a metal complex reacts with a substrate, leading to an increase in both the coordination number and the oxidation state of the metal center. This process typically involves the breaking of a bond in the substrate and the formation of two new bonds to the metal. It is a fundamental step in many catalytic cycles involving transition metals.
