Reductive elimination
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010055
A reaction in organometallic chemistry where two ligands on a metal center combine to form a new bond and simultaneously depart from the metal, with a concomitant decrease in the metal's oxidation state. This is the reverse of oxidative addition and is a key step in many catalytic cycles. The ligands typically couple to form a stable organic product.
