Clarke-Glew-Weiss equation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002097

A form of the semi-empirical Clarke-Glew expansion in which the reference temperature is fixed at 100 K, so the standard Gibbs energy of solution divided by RT becomes a series in 100 K over T, the logarithm of T over 100 K, and powers of T over 100 K. It was adopted for gas solubility in water and seawater, as in Weiss's work on nitrogen, oxygen and argon, and gives enthalpy, entropy and heat capacity changes of solution.
