Haber-Weiss reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005065
A catalytic cycle involving the interconversion of superoxide and hydrogen peroxide, generating highly reactive hydroxyl radicals. This reaction is metal-catalyzed, with iron or copper ions acting as electron donors and acceptors. It contributes to oxidative stress in biological systems by producing potent oxidants from less reactive species.
