Oxidative stress

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008395

An imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the ability of the biological system to detoxify these reactive intermediates or repair the resulting damage. This imbalance can lead to cellular damage, including to DNA, proteins, and lipids. It is implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases.
