Stress proteins

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011474

A group of proteins synthesized by cells in response to environmental stressors, such as heat, cold, or exposure to toxins. These proteins assist in maintaining cellular homeostasis by refolding damaged proteins or targeting them for degradation. Heat shock proteins are a well-known class of stress proteins.
