Surface stress
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011667
The force per unit length acting within a surface, representing the reversible work required to elastically deform a surface. This quantity is distinct from surface tension, which is the reversible work to create new surface area. Surface stress is typically measured in Newtons per meter.
