Work of cohesion per unit area
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012717
The reversible work required to separate a column of a pure liquid into two free surfaces, each with the same area as the original cross-section. It represents the energy needed to overcome the cohesive forces within the liquid. This quantity is equal to twice the surface tension of the liquid.
