Work function
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012714
The minimum energy required to remove an electron from a solid material to a point just outside its surface, where it is free from image charge forces. This energy barrier is characteristic of the material and its surface condition. It is typically measured in electronvolts (eV).
