Work hardening
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012715
The phenomenon where a material becomes stronger and harder through plastic deformation, such as by cold working. This process increases the density of dislocations within the crystal structure, impeding their movement and thus increasing the material's resistance to further deformation. It is also known as strain hardening.
