Shear strain
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010802
A measure of the deformation of a material under shear stress, representing the angular displacement of a plane perpendicular to the applied force. It is defined as the ratio of the displacement of a point on a surface to its perpendicular distance from a fixed plane. Shear strain is a dimensionless quantity, often expressed as a tangent of the angle of deformation.
