Simple shear

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010872

A type of deformation where parallel planes within a material slide past one another, with the displacement proportional to the distance from a fixed plane. The deformation occurs without any change in volume. This condition is characterized by a constant velocity gradient in one direction perpendicular to the flow.
