Newtonian fluid

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007934

A fluid whose shear stress is directly proportional to the shear rate, with the constant of proportionality being the fluid's viscosity. This means its viscosity remains constant regardless of the applied shear stress or shear rate. Water and air are common examples of Newtonian fluids, exhibiting predictable flow behavior under varying conditions.
