Apparent viscosity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000746

The ratio of shear stress to shear rate for a non-Newtonian fluid, measured at a specific shear rate and temperature. This value changes with the applied shear rate, unlike the constant viscosity of a Newtonian fluid. It is typically expressed in units of Pascal-seconds (Pa·s) or centipoise (cP).
