Apparent rate constant of polymerisation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000745

A rate constant that describes the overall speed of a polymerization reaction under specific experimental conditions, without necessarily reflecting the elementary steps of the reaction mechanism. It is derived from macroscopic measurements of monomer consumption or polymer formation. This constant can be influenced by factors such as initiator efficiency, chain transfer reactions, and diffusion limitations.
