Entropy of polymerisation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003966
The change in entropy that occurs when monomers are converted into a polymer chain. This value is typically negative, reflecting the decrease in disorder as individual monomer molecules combine to form a more ordered macromolecule. The entropy change, along with the enthalpy change, determines the spontaneity and equilibrium of a polymerization reaction.
