Entropy unit

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003967

A non-SI unit of molar entropy, defined as one calorie per mole per kelvin. This unit was historically used in thermochemistry and statistical mechanics to express changes in entropy for chemical reactions or physical transitions on a molar basis. One entropy unit is equivalent to exactly 4.184 joules per mole kelvin (J mol⁻¹ K⁻¹), which is the corresponding SI unit for molar entropy.
