Strain

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011453

The destabilization of a molecule due to deviations from ideal bond lengths, bond angles, or non-bonded interactions, resulting in an increase in its internal energy. This deviation from an unstrained reference structure makes the molecule less stable. Common types include angle strain, torsional strain, and steric strain.
