Eclipsed
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003544
A conformation in which substituents on adjacent atoms are directly aligned with each other when viewed along the bond connecting those atoms. This arrangement typically represents a higher energy state due to steric hindrance and torsional strain. In ethane, the eclipsed conformation has a dihedral angle of 0 degrees between hydrogen atoms.
