Newman projection

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007930

A representation of a molecule's conformation viewed along a specific carbon-carbon bond, where the front carbon is depicted as a point and the rear carbon as a circle. Substituents on the front carbon are drawn as lines radiating from the center, while those on the rear carbon emerge from the circle. This projection is used to visualize and analyze the spatial relationships between groups and to identify different conformers, such as staggered and eclipsed forms.
