Sawhorse projection

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010535

A method for representing the three-dimensional structure of molecules, particularly alkanes, on a two-dimensional surface. It depicts the molecule from an oblique angle, showing the bonds between carbon atoms and the substituents attached to them. This projection clearly illustrates the relative positions of groups on adjacent carbons, aiding in the visualization of conformations.
