Wedge projection
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012665
A two-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional molecule, particularly useful for depicting stereochemistry at a chiral center. Solid wedges indicate bonds extending out of the plane of the paper towards the viewer, while dashed wedges represent bonds extending behind the plane. This convention clearly illustrates the spatial arrangement of atoms.
