Haworth representation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005116
A common method for depicting the cyclic structure of monosaccharides, particularly pyranoses and furanoses, in a three-dimensional perspective. This convention shows the ring as planar, with thicker lines indicating bonds closer to the viewer and substituents above or below the plane. It provides a simplified way to visualize the stereochemistry of cyclic sugars, such as alpha-D-glucopyranose.
