Inversion

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006057

The process where the configuration at a chiral center is reversed, leading to the formation of an enantiomer. This can occur through a Walden inversion mechanism in nucleophilic substitution reactions or through pyramidal inversion in molecules like ammonia. The change in configuration is often observed in reactions that proceed via a trigonal planar intermediate.
