Continuity inversion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002490
A phenomenon observed in liquid-liquid extraction where the dispersed phase becomes the continuous phase, and vice versa, as the volume fraction of the dispersed phase increases beyond a certain threshold. This transition results in a change in the physical characteristics of the emulsion or dispersion. The inversion point is influenced by factors such as interfacial tension, viscosity, and the presence of surfactants.
