Inversion point

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006059

The specific temperature at which a reversible polymorphic transition occurs between two crystalline forms of a substance. At this temperature, the two solid phases coexist in equilibrium at a given pressure. For example, the transition between α-quartz and β-quartz occurs at an inversion point of 573 °C at atmospheric pressure.
