Polymorphic transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009208
A reversible phase transition in a solid material where a substance changes its crystal structure without altering its chemical composition. This transformation occurs at a specific temperature and pressure, leading to different crystalline forms (polymorphs) of the same compound. An example is the transition between alpha-quartz and beta-quartz.
