Density inversion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003003
A condition in a liquid-liquid extraction system where the relative densities of the two immiscible phases reverse during the extraction process. This can occur due to changes in temperature, solute concentration, or solvent composition. It can lead to operational difficulties, such as phase separation problems, in industrial extraction columns.
