Countercurrent extraction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002636
A liquid-liquid extraction process where two immiscible phases flow past each other in opposite directions, allowing for continuous transfer of solutes between them. This technique enhances separation efficiency by providing multiple equilibrium stages in a single operation. It is widely used for the purification and separation of compounds in chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
